Interviewing for a job

Nowadays it is so easy to apply for jobs online. However, if you do not hear back within a week from the employer, it is because you didn’t have an impressive cover letter. Even when you apply online, you must create an impressive cover letter, and submit it along with a well-crafted Resume. Landing a job in sales might not be easy, but it’s not impossible either, especially if you pay attention to these tips and tricks below:

State your PITCH
After all you are eager to get a job in sales, so you really need to have good pitch. Just imagine how many cover letters do hiring managers read on a daily basis and we talk about dozens of boring, cliché cover letters. So, you need to start right off with your pitch, with a phrase that will immediately catch the attention of the reader. Put your mind at work, and think about something truly creative, don’t start your letter in the conventional way. Research the company, see its core values and try to come up with something impressive along those lines. You can start your letter with anything, but boring, old-school presentation phrases.

Never ever COPY
The biggest mistake that most job seekers do is to copy cover letters they can find online. They will fill the page with their information but copy most of the text. This could really ruin your chances of the hiring manager reading your cover letter, let alone inviting you for an interview. Do your best, and write a cover letter that is unique and original. You are aiming for a sales job, which means your personality is daring, bold and talkative and this should be definitely reflected in your cover letter. If you work in sales, you definitely have a way with words, so you must prove this right from the beginning.

Tell WHY
The hiring manager wants to find out why you want this job so badly. Let your imagination and creative will to come up with a nice explanation as to why you want this job, and why you believe you are the right fit for the task. Instead of filling up your cover letter with clichés and phrases that seem generalized and can characterize just about anyone, make yourself stand out from the crowd by being creative. Talk about your professional experience, about your most outstanding attributes as a person and an employee. Talk about your ambitions. Highlight the challenging situations you were exposed to in the past, and mention numbers. Definitely, mention numbers.

Landing a job in sales might not be easy, but it’s not impossible either.
